Overview

As the Electrical Power Systems Engineer working for Hepburn and Sons LLC, you will focus on integrating new technology such as solid state transformers, power electronics, and novel conductors into naval and shore based power systems . You will be expected to review customer requirements and apply systems level Mil-STDs and industry specifications to system design studies with an emphasis on the electric power aspects.  The Electrical Power Systems Engineer will work as part of an integrated team in the development of new technology, working closely with customers integrating new technology into power systems.  Customers tend to be US DoD, but dual use technology for commercial application will also be part of the analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze electrical system protections required for power systems containing integrated power electronics devices
  • Develop Model Based Systems Engineering models to capture customer requirements and describe system behavior
  • Model electrical power systems and interfaces

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering 
  • 8 or more years of experience
  • Ability to obtain a Top Secret level clearance
  • Familiarity with power systems modeling and power quality
  • Experience in power distribution design including conductors
  • Familiarity with load flow analysis, short circuit analysis, arc flash analysis, protective devices coordination, and harmonic analysis
  • Up to 25% travel
